30 metres - a great band for DX

At 3B9C we made nearly 11,400 QSOs on 30m and we will be looking to do well again on that band on St Brandon.

3B7C will again be using what we believe to be the largest beam antenna ever used on a DXpedition of this type.

Our antenna is a full size two element Yagi, made by Trident Antennas. We will put it some 40 ft (12m) above ground, and will be operating 30m all the time that the band is open. But this is a very large Yagi. We believe that we will be able to secure it in the sandy ground, against the continuous 40kph winds, but in case we find that it becomes insecure, we are also taking the 30m phased verticals that we used to such good effect on 9M0C. These are more tolerant of high winds, and whatever the conditions we expect to be a big signal on 30m

On 30m, we will have the use of a linear for part of the time. For the rest of the time, we will be running 200 watts from the Yaesu FT2000

Look for us on 30m !
